IPMI 2.0 Management Card with Out-of-Band Management Capability
IPMI is a set of industry standard specifications for hardware-based subsystem. The subsystems can manage and monitor independently of the host system's CPU, firmware, and operating system. IEI iRIS2 modules seamlessly integrate with ASPEED AST2600 and AST2620 Baseboard Management Controllers (BMC).
The BMC connects with various components like BIOS, CPU, OS, power supply, and sensors using the system bus. It helps manage CPU speeds, fan speeds, voltages, temperatures, event log, and system rebooting.
The IPMI interface has its own NIC management port, located on IEI's systems. To activate the IPMI console, you need to connect the system with a LAN cable.
