【Taipei, Taiwan】 IEI, a leading industrial computer provider, and QNAP, a manufacturer of network appliance and storage solutions, launched the latest TANK-860-QGW smart fan-less embedded computer which has an ultra-rugged design with built-in QNAP QTS Gateway for new cloud-based IPC solutions.
QTS Gateway is an operating system designed specifically for IEI IPCs and fully inheriting the QNAP NAS operating system (QTS), breaking through the stereotype of IPCs of not having operating systems and saving unnecessary costs for installing servers and computers. ‘’TANK-860-QGW is the best way to get into cloud applications, especially in the aspect of operating system. With QNAP’s years of software experience and the built-in Virtualization Station, users can seamlessly migrate their current operating platform to the virtual machine (VM) in QTS Gateway, and directly connect to the cloud through various apps in QTS Gateway. Therefore, the three main goals of industrial IoT (IIOT)–remote monitoring, preventive maintenance and asset management can easily be achieved. ‘’ said Don Yu, Director of IEI.
QTS Gateway not only allows easy monitoring of computer activity through its visualized interface, it also allows the use of many free application programs, making it multifunctional while challenging the values of traditional IPCs. The TANK-860-QGW is installed with an iRIS-2400 module so that it can utilize the IoT concept to perform remote control, including power management/control, remote KVM monitoring or sending alarm and warning information through e-mail or SMS.
IEI showcased two different applications in the seminar, providing users more information to fulfill various field demands. One of the applications of QTS-Gateway is to combine VM with Motorcon PCI-SN300 4-axis pulse type motion control card. While maintaining the industrial control system operation, the user can easily manage the system through the cloud. Through efficient allocation of system resources, VM can make proper multiplex operation. There is no need to worry when replacing old machines with new ones because physical-to-virtual (P2V) technology can be used to create a familiar operating system (e.g. Windows XP, Server 2003) on the virtual machine. Existing services and data can also be moved to the virtual machine, adding more flexible system management. Moreover, Hybrid Backup Sync provides complete disaster recovery and is able to backup or synchronize the data on the TANK-860-QGW to external devices, remote servers or cloud spaces, providing more diverse and mind-easing backup management solutions.
The other application is IoT development kit integration. The TANK-860-QGW can not only work with other development kits, like Raspberry PI and LinkIt ONE, with its wide temperature feature, various outdoor measurement can also be processed and analyzed. QTS Gateway collects and sends the information to the cloud for data integration and analysis, providing users a complete development platform.
IEI incorporates with QNAP to launch its TANK-860-QGW cloud-based IPC with QTS Gateway operating system, offering possibilities of connecting devices, communications and the cloud servers for IPC applications. This seminar brings users into a new era of industrial PC and redefines the new generation of cloud-based IPC.
